IMPORTANT COMMUNITY UPDATE
The Pool Opens 5 September — Our Celebration Moves to 3 October
The City of Johannesburg recently delayed the reopening of public pools across the city, citing chemical supply and lifeguard availability issues. Thanks to the efforts of Cllr Bea Campbell-Cloete and the BCA chairs, Blairgowrie Public Pool has received permission to reopen on Saturday, 5 September 2026.
Because this confirmation came through late, the uncertainty and delays left us with too little time to properly plan and promote the full Grand Reopening celebration. Rather than rush it, we have moved the community celebration and BCA raffle draw to Saturday, 3 October 2026.

The important bit: The pool still opens on 5 September. The full community celebration and raffle draw move to 3 October.
PHASE 2 IMPROVEMENTS COMPLETED
A Renewed Pool for Blairgowrie
The Blairgowrie Public Pool Phase 2 improvement programme is nearing completion, thanks to the considerable efforts of the BCA Pool Action Team, committee members, volunteers, contractors and generous in-kind contributors. The work has focused on restoring the pool facilities, improving safety and creating a cleaner, more welcoming space for residents and families.
Completely Renovated Bathrooms
Both pool bathrooms have received extensive upgrades, including new tiling, basins, fittings, fixtures and improved finishes.
Kiddies Pool Re-lined
The kiddies pool has been prepared and re-lined to improve its durability, appearance and long-term usability.
Main Pool Repairs
Additional remedial work is still required on the main pool to address ongoing structural and lining concerns. The remaining work is estimated at approximately R140,000 and will be completed in phases as funds and donations become available.
Additional Improvements
Further work has included access improvements, maintenance, cleaning, landscaping, plumbing attention and general preparation of the pool area.
